Cafe Tahru: A Small Yet an Indulging Café in La Trinidad

La Trinidad, Benguet is booming with modernized establishments. But, the province is still maintaining its traditional and conservative culture and showcasing its well-preserved agriculture. One thing that’s unusual about La Trinidad is the numerous small coffee shops which serve delicate and organic coffee from the different provinces of Cordillera.

          Recently, a new café has opened in La Trinidad. CAFÉ TAHRU is in the vicinity of KM 5 just across Jacks Restaurant. It is easy to find the café because it is located on the second floor of TAKIKO Building. 

          Café Tahru is not as wide as the cafés in Baguio City but it is also a great place to relax and chat with friends. When you enter the room, a feeling of comfort and ease will welcome you. The place is simply designed with a black and white motif. Some paintings and handcrafted artworks are also decorated around the café. They have friendly service and superb menu. 




       

Here are the best tasting and delectable specialties that Café Tahru serves.

BREWED COFFEE with REFILL. It is partnered with sugar and creamer. But you can also choose evaporated or fresh milk for your coffee. Surely, you won’t be satisfied with one refill even though the cup is gigantic. The taste of coffee never changes until you finished the last drop. It only costs 50 pesos.

CREAM PUFF! Have you ever eaten cream puff as big and as cheap this? Cream puffs usually have small amount of cream or custard but this one is overflowing. Once you finished the toppings, you can use a teaspoon to eat its pastry cream. As what I’ve said, this one’s a big puffy cream puff. 20.00 isn’t a big loss for you.

CHOCOLATE PANCAKE. This pancake has killed the sizes of the ones sold in fast food chains. It is glazed with chocolate syrup and whipped cream. But, it doesn’t end there. These thick pancakes have chocolate fillings, too. This only costs 95.00 with a choice of coffee or hot chocolate. In other cozy cafes, this kind of pancake would cost you more or less a hundred bucks without a drink. Not bad at all.

PANCIT de BIHON. The price is similar to other restaurants. When I ordered this, I imagined that it is only good for one person. To our surprise, their serving is enough for three people. The recipe includes fresh veggies, chicken liver, small chops of meat, and other seasonings. It seems like a common “pancit” but the taste is unexplainable. My friend even ordered more.

They also prepare different meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have various recipes for the chicken lovers, pasta, pica-pica, desserts, and drinks.
